DEREK J TORR FRICS FAAV
Senior Partner, Auctioneer & RICS Registered Valuer
Derek joined Whittaker & Biggs in 1975 having spent all his working life in this profession. Derek began his career with the company in Congleton running the livestock market, auction room and carrying out professional work. He moved to Leek Office in 1987 and became the Senior Partner in the Company in 1996.
Derek enjoys spending time walking, gardening and bowling.
JOHN W ROBINSON FRICS, FAAV, FNAEA
Senior Partner, Auctioneer & RICS Registered Valuer
John joined Whittaker & Biggs in 1978 and became a partner in 1985. During his career he has covered all aspects of property and as the managing partner has overall responsibility for the four estate agency offices and deals mainly with property development, commercial property. He also deals with property auctions and has over 30 years experience auctioning antiques and household effects.
John’s hobbies are playing squash, cycling and hill walking. He is a keen football supporter which is an excellent excuse to spend time with his son and daughter. He also has a passion (in moderation) for real ale and is a CAMRA member.
JOHN WILSON FRICS FAAV
Partner, Chartered Surveyor and RICS Registered Valuer
John joined Whittaker & Biggs in 1997 becoming a Partner in 2001 and is responsible for the Rural Professional Department based in Biddulph alongside Peter Kirton-Darling. John has spent all his working life in the rural profession after studying at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and Fellow of the Central Associated of Agricultural Valuers in 1982 whilst working for Frank Marshall and Company. After a 10 year spell in Cumbria with a firm of Livestock Auctioneers and Valuers in Cockermouth, John headed south to Congleton to join Whittaker & Biggs initially based at Congleton and selling at the Livestock Market.
Now based at Biddulph John specialises in Land Agency, and Rural Professional Work acting for a wide range of clients in the northwest and north midlands and also conducts sales of property by auction.
John spends most of his spare time with his wife Penny and their four children and his hobbies include walking, reading, watching rugby (which he played for many years) and football, and also watches his son Tom play football for a local side.
NICHOLAS CLARE BA
Associate Partner, Macclesfield Branch Manager
Nick Clare joined the Macclesfield office in 2003 and quickly applied his experience to make Macclesfield a thriving success and was soon made an Associate Partner. Nick has professional qualifications and first started his career in estate agency in 1991. He has a thorough knowledge of the local housing market in Macclesfield and the surrounding villages and prides himself in providing sound professional and reliable advice for those thinking about selling their home or property.
RACHEL TORR BSC (Hons) MNAEA
Associate Partner, Leek Branch Manager, Auctioneer, Lettings Consultant
Rachel joined Whittaker & Biggs in a full time capacity in 2000 beginning her career in the Congleton Branch after gaining an honours degree in Valuation Surveying at Staffordshire University. Rachel moved to Leek Office in 2002 and became the Property and Lettings Manager in 2003. She is also an auctioneer at the Brown Street Auction Rooms.
Rachel enjoys spending time with her family.
PETER KIRTON-DARLING BSc (Hons) MRICS
Associate Partner, Chartered Surveyor & RICS Registered Valuer
Peter joined Whittaker & Biggs in 2005 after obtaining a BSc (Hons) Degree in Rural Enterprise & Land Management from Harper Adams University College. He is a qualified Chartered Surveyor, a RICS Registered Valuer and a Fellow of The Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. Peter has followed in his father's footsteps as a Chartered Surveyor and he was brought up on the family farm in County Durham, providing him with valuable knowledge and practical experience of our work in the rural sector. He works alongside partner John Wilson in the Rural Department based at our Biddulph Office and is involved with a broad spectrum of Land Agency and Professional Work with specialisms in the Basic Payment Scheme, Environmental Stewardship, land management and sales. He also has a thorough knowledge of residential lettings and plays an important role advising our lettings team.
In his spare time he is a keen shot, plays rugby and enjoys spending time with his young family.
MATHEW BLASHILL MNAEA DEA
Congleton Branch Manager
Mathew started his property career in 1990 for a corporate estate agency in Manchester. During the past 20+ years Mathew has worked in estate agency and property development gaining a great deal of all around property experience before joining Whittaker & Biggs in January 2006 to run the Congleton office.
Mathew enjoys spending time with his family and friends, he’s an enthusiastic runner, golfer and general sports fanatic, if it’s outside or involves a ball Mathew will be there.
PAULA TINSLEY MNAEA
Biddulph Branch Manager
Paula is a qualified member of the National Association of Estate Agents (MNAEA) and also has a technical award and NVQ Level 3 in the sale of residential property. She has over 10 years experience in estate agency and has extensive local knowledge. She lives with her family in Biddulph.
Outside of work Paula has a keen interest in baking, crafts and furniture renovation and can be found exploring local vintage fairs and farmers markets.
Knutsford Branch Manager
David started his property career in 1995 for a corporate Agent in Northwich. Over the past 20 years David has managed offices in and around the Cheshire area gaining a great deal of knowledge of the property industry and property development before joining Whittaker and Biggs in April 2015 to project manage the opening of our New Knutsford Office.
David enjoys spending time with his family and friends, in his spare time he enjoys cycling, golf, football, and sport in general.
ROBERT MCINDEOR FRICS
Chartered Surveyor and RICS Registered Valuer
Robert qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1982 becoming a Fellow in 1994.
Formally The Chief Surveyor for a top 10 Building Society he has specialised in the valuation and survey of residential property for the last 30+ years, with a good mix of commercial valuation work thrown in.
Outside of work his hobbies include classic cars, walking his 2 dogs and tennis/squash/badminton.
Lorraine joined Whittaker & Biggs in June 2012 as a letting agent. During her career she has worked for Reeds Rains for 10 years as a Lettings Specialist and Senior Sales Negotiator. She has also worked for Hague Lambert Solicitors in the conveyancing department and has brought much knowledge with her to Whittaker & Biggs to enhance the existing portfolio.
In her spare time Lorraine likes to spend time with her family, swimming and country walking.
MARCUS KIRKHAM BA (Hons) MNAEA MARLA
Assistant Manager, Macclesfield Branch
Marcus obtained a BA (Hons) in Accountancy and Business in 2007 and began working in the field of Estate Agency soon after. He joined Whittaker & Biggs in 2011 and has since become a member of the National Association of Estate Agents (MNAEA) and a member of the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (MARLA). He is also a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA).
Away from work Marcus enjoys a game of golf, clay pigeon shooting and socialising with his friends.
Chris joined the Leek branch in June, 2006, initially employed as secretary to the Property Manager, then taking on the role of secretary to the Senior Partner. After gaining valuable experience in the estate agency side of the business Chris became the Marketing Coordinator in 2011 and assists the Property Manager in all aspects of her role.
Chris enjoys spending time with her family and taking her three dogs on country walks.
CALLUM HANN BSC (Hons) DEA
Sales Negotiator and Energy Assessor
Callum joined Whittaker & Biggs in 2011 after graduating from Salford University where he studied Property Management & Investment for three years. He is currently based at our Congleton office where he is a full time sales negotiator. He qualified as a domestic energy assessor after successfully passing the course in October 2012.
Away from work Callum is a keen Stoke City supporter and for his sins has been a season ticket holder since the age of nine.
