The
Borough of Macclesfield first dates back to 1086 with a reference in
the Domesday Survey as it being a medieval town. It was one of the
largest towns in Cheshire and in 1261 a charter granted by Prince
Edward, constituted Macclesfield a free borough with a merchant guild.
Macclesfield is located in north east Cheshire and is made up of
attractive villages located on the Cheshire Plain, some of which
include Prestbury, Langley, Sutton, Gawsworth and Bollington.
Macclesfield is easily accessible for motorway network links and the
railway station has a direct line to London Euston and Manchester
Piccadilly. Manchester Airport is within easy driving distance,
approximately fourteen miles away. Macclesfield town centre has a large
array of chain store names and on the outskirts of the town you will
find larger retail outlets. Macclesfield also has a very good choice of
primary and secondary schools.

originally famous for silk manufacturing. Leek has a good choice of
primary and secondary schools and the town centre has many shops. Leek
is home to many antique shops and every Saturday there is an antique
and crafts market in the town. The open market is held every Wednesday
on the cobbles of Market Place, which was first established by Royal
Charter in 1208.
